It’s late, but I want to give a quick shout-out to my mother. She read my book as a beta reader and edited it from start to finish. I am amazed at how she catches every typo and punctuation flaw. Today I finished updating the manuscript with her revisions.
She is a grammarian of the highest order and I am privileged to have review my manuscript. To be honest there were times when I was writing and came across a word, such as lay, and I didn’t take the time to make sure I had the write tense because I knew Mom would catch it. But she also caught those nearly invisible mistakes made because you are writing so hard and fast, you don’t notice. I read over the story twice before sending it out to betas, but I didn’t see a ton of small errors that my mind corrects as I read.
There still is more editing to come. I’ve rewritten the beginning and there are two other parts I want to rewrite. I also want to look at my descriptive prose and see if it is the best. And of course, I’m still weeding out the -ly-ending words. Mom has told me, she’ll edit the revisions as well.
Thank you, Mom! You are a trooper and a saint!
